96TH STREET TOWN HOUSE

This project is an interior renovation of a three-story townhouse in Manhattan. The brief called for a conversion of three individual apartment floors into a single-family residence. Each floor was redesigned to allow for a more liveable arrangement for the owners, a professional couple with a small child.

In order to not visually overwhelm each small space (each floor is only 450 sf) the redesign focused attention on a carefully-made object fit to each space: on the first floor a wood-clad entry hall, on the second a storage wall and on the third a wood and steel staircase to the new attic level.

This project was completed in 2002.
